grama's apple smocking

I have to brag about my mom here.  Look at this beautiful dress she made!
Apple smocked dress

Yes - my mother did all this smocking on the bodice.  Do you see the piping at the top and bottom? Cute little detail on an already beautiful dress.

Another cute little detail - the waistband with buttons at the back.  Check out the piping again on the Peter Pan collar and sleeves.

I know - it's amazing!

Thanks Grama J for my beautiful dress!

smocked birthday goodness

My mother is an amazing seamstress.  This was the birthday dress she made for Abby.
Check out the piping detail on the front!
And here's a closeup of the beautiful details. (and Abby's oh-so-straight hair.  It's getting so long!)
Thanks mom for a gorgeous dress!!!! (And see - proof that she wore it again!)  When I understand the hard work that goes into something like this, I have a hard time putting it on her to wear.

smocking party dresses

This post should really be titled "SHOUT OUT TO MY AWESOME MOM". She can smock up a storm.

This is my daughter's Easter dress, part 2. (She has so many pretty dresses she's wearing one to church and one to the meal.)

She has a pleating machine, but all the embroidery on top was done by hand. Do you see the ribbon woven in the handwork?

Cute little bow in the back of course.

This is my daughter's birthday party dress. Once again, pleating machine, but otherwise - all hand embroidered. Bunnies and flowers. Perfect for my little spring girl!

Did you see the piping along the top edge? And check out the poofy sleeves below. My mom even had a slip for her to wear underneath!

OH, and yeah, she did this all with major magnification on a CCTV. She rocks. I've got her stubborn side, just not all the patience. Thanks mom for all your hard work to make TWO beautiful dresses!!

baby Abby

Here is my little peanut, sweet pea, darling baby girl. She kept me up through the night, and greeted me at 6:20 in the morning a year ago. I'm not a morning person, but she was the perfect way to start off my day! (You better believe I requested french toast for breakfast!)

We celebrated tonight with cupcakes. She couldn't shove it in fast enough. And that was after a pretty crummy nap and feeling sick. I can't imagine what she'll do with cake and ice cream at her party Saturday! Watch out!

Check out the smocking on that dress. My grandma made it for me to wear when I was a baby. And wait until you see the smocking my mom did on the dress for her party. Yowza. Pretty impressive.
Anyway - happy birthday, beautiful girl!
